Bringing the Gospel to a New Generation
Our Privilege
We relish the opportunity to serve parents and their children at Sovereign Grace Fellowship! Our children’s ministry provides contexts that supplement and support the parents’ biblical responsibility to raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Ephesians 6:1-4).
We provide nursery and classroom ministry for infants through 6th graders during our Sunday Celebration. The rest of our “children’s ministry” consists of providing adult ministries to equip parents to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord, for the benefit of their children.
Structure and Curricula
Nursery for children up to 3 years is provided throughout the entire Sunday Celebration (10 AM – noon). During the summer months we extend nursery to children up to 4 years.
Classroom ministry (Discovery Kingdom) is provided during the school year (the summers are off) from 3 years to 6th grade during the second half of the Sunday Celebration (11 AM – noon). We use a curriculum called God’s Story that teaches through the Bible in a 3-4 year timetable. Each lesson seeks to teach the main point of the passage and how it relates to the main storyline of the Bible – God’s plan to save sinners through the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Our four classes are currently divided into these age groups: 3-4 year olds, 5’s – 1st grade, 2nd – 4th grade, and 5th – 6th grade. Each group will study the same Bible passage for that day, with older children going deeper into the meaning and application of the text. This facilitates review of the material for families with more than one child since they are all learning the same passage. Devotional guides that build on the lesson’s teaching throughout the week are free for everyone who wishes to use them in family devotions.
