Keep Running the Race

Words of Encouragement blogFINAL

This season at Sovereign Grace Church is exciting. The Holy Spirit is alive and active in our midst. Our new Travelers Trail building is a physical representation of what God is doing. He's creating a passionate church on fire for the gospel. He is deepening our unity and increasing our joy.

Having a building of our own establishes an identity within a community--a community where there are sheep not yet of the fold. Sovereign Grace Church, physically in Burnsville, allows us to be outward focused in a way we have never been before. As you've heard it said, it is an outpost for ministry. It is an outpost for ministry for the members of Sovereign Grace, yes, but it is also an outpost for ministry for the outsiders, the refugees, and the broken.

Thank you for running the race. Thank you for continuing to give, serve, and love. God has work for us to do as the unit that is Sovereign Grace Church. Let us roll up our sleeves and get to work. A completed building may feel like a finish line, but really it's the starting point of another leg in the journey.

Soon and very soon, we will cross the ultimate Finish Line. Christ will come back and we can say with Timothy: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing" (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

May we be a church that not only runs with fervor, but who pulls as many neighbors as we can from running headlong into hell onto the Path of Righteousness with us. Lace up your running shoes and fill your cup with Living Water.

On your mark, get set, go!

Brontë has attended Sovereign Grace Church (almost) her whole life. Her respect for words led her to pursue a degree in literature and now she communicates for a living. Lately, she fell in love with her husband, is falling in love with Burnsville, and will continue to fall more in love with Jesus Christ.
